1953 - MG TD
September, 2005 - Finished Hood Panels... painted with spray cans
Nardi Wheel frame in mahogany and maple laminate....
Picked up a new "Moss" canvas top...the colour is just between the TF "pink" cast top (1967) and the darker original side curtains (1953).
Nov.15/05 - Time to change from 5:125/1 gears to MGA 4:30/1's... that should give me a cruising speed of 60 mph @ 3500 rpm instead of 52 mph...
Took out the rear end in an hour and a half....axles looked in good shape...
The dif with its "TD" painted on...am told that they did this at the factory...
"TD" stencil
Certainly made the job easier having a hoist available....
Tucked away in "cold storage" for two or three weeks....minus rear end...
20 minutes at the bead blaster does wonders...
He recommended bead rather then soda to get off any surface rust....rust??
A coat of etching primer....
....and then some black rust paint...should be good for another 60 years!!!
Exactly 24 hours after removing it....11:30, Nov. 16th
