The photograph is of me in my father's 1953 MG TD. The photograph was taken in Niagara Falls, Ont. I am guessing that it was taken in 1971 or 1972. He still has the car. It has original paint, interior, and top. I think that he has the original side curtains as well.

I was going through an old scrap book and found pictures of a couple British cars I owned.

The Austin was a 1966 Cooper S MkI (single gas tank, 1275cc, hydrolastic suspension)
I bought the car in 1969 for $500.00 dollars. This was a great car for a kid in high school.  I drove it everywhere in any weather. But I couldn't keep the universal joints in one piece. I actually carried a spare set in the car and could perform a road side change in about 45 minutes. Another result of my heavy acceleration was pinning the tack so severely it stopped working. I was looking for a replacement tack that went to 10k RPM and was sent to a small garage on Read Road near Lakeshore Road. The proprietor, Rick Stevens came out to look at the Cooper S and proclaimed that he purchased the car new when he was in college. It was green with a white roof, now lacquer blue.

The 1983 Catterham Super 7 was purchased from Steve Jones (a NBCC member in 2003) for $15,000.00 in 1985. I was the third owner, selling it in 1988 for the same price.  It had a Ford Cortina push rod block that was severely worked over with a RS2000 tranny. Rated at a 150 BHP into a 1100 LB car, it was a scary fast car.

Some pictures of cars that my father, Richard Jones owned in England.
Pictures BSA Scout 1,2,3 - The 1936? BSA Scout was his first car. 4 cylinders, front wheel drive. It had one inboard front brake, which was carefully arranged to collect any oilÊleaking from the differential. The rear brakes had to be adjusted for 2 or 4 passengers. All brakes mechanical.
The other car is a BSA Scout, 2 is a British Salmson which belonged to his friend Johnny Johnson. He had one of these after the BSA
Picture BSA Scout 4 - . The white car is a 2 seater BSA Scout.Ê David Jones
